I was born in Cuba and came to the U.S. at age 13. I’ve been writing poetry since just about then, have an MFA and a JD from the University of Florida, and currently work for the U.S. Department of the Treasury. I am also the poetry editor for Compose.

I used to write songs: Eclepto Funk Americana

If you want to read more about me than anyone could possibly care to, I suggest my autobiographical piece In Defense of the MFA.

  1. Hi Andres,

So nice to have stumbled across your poetry. I am in awe of your words. Such beautiful simplicity and a tinge of nostalgia…which I absoluetely adore. I will be back to read more as I am now following you. ♥

    Nice to meet you.
