“Love is Mud” is a poem about Melinda and me: we used to get in these long rambling arguments that kept coming back over and over. It felt like being stuck in a quagmire. We’re much better now, 22 years in. Mostly.
“One” is off course a riff off Elizabeth Bishop’s “One Art.” I think of it as a cover poem. Apologies to Bishop.
