Please Allow Me to Self-Promote Myself
Thus spoke the reviewer:
There are 17 poems in this issue, five more pieces than there are of prose. Even someone like me, who frankly doesn’t really understand poetry, can appreciate the excellent work put on display here. My personal favorite was Andres Rojas’ “Mirror Memory,” which deals with memories and how they are never truly forgotten …
I’d like to add that poem was rejected at least 50 times over a two-year period (January 2011-April 2013) before C. Dale Young accepted it at NER. (Marianne Moore supposedly stopped sending poems out once they’d been rejected 40 times; being no Marianne Moore, my current “stop sending the poor poem out” number is 100 rejections.)
And here’s the poem: Mirror Memory.
